Make Your Own Recycled Plant Pot with Plastic Shed

Using recycled vinyl banners, you will get the chance to make your very own 100% recycled plastic plant pot to take home.

Vinyl banners are the banners used to advertise events outside, usually used once and then discarded and burned. Which is such a waste of a wonderful material, it is colourful, strong and waterproof.

Through some simple steps we will show you how to create your own plant pot ready to be filled with a plant, or used on your desk for pens, pencils etc, whatever you like!

Come and have a go at Newcastle Common on Monday 22, Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 April from 11am to 3pm.

About Plastic Shed

Plastic Shed is a Community Benefit Society based in the heart of Stockport, uniting people over the issue of plastic waste. We find new and creative ways to reuse local plastic waste; through creative workshops, a small product range and art installations.

Planet Dance

Join us on a journey to PLANET DANCE

Aliens have landed in Newcastle Common and can only return to Planet Dance when they’ve learned how to put on a show – Earth style.

Whether you twisted your way through the 60s, did the shuffle in the 70s or pogoed through your punk phase, they need your help to get back home!

And so we’re calling all Earthlings to come help these deep-space dancers master your moves and help them on their way. From rhumba to robot, floss to foxtrot, Charleston to the Cha Cha Slide, they want to learn it all!

Drop in to Newcastle Common any time between 11am and 3pm on Friday 29 March to help get this research mission off the ground.

But what is a show without style? Our curious visitors also need to know how to do their make-up to take them from facepalm to fierce and truly dazzle the crowd. If you have ideas and tips to pass on, they would love you to come by from 1pm to 3pm and share them.

Will our new friends be able to cram the whole history of human dance into one performance? Will they look absolutely fabulous? Will your moves make it into the final show? And will you join the boogie and get your groove on?

Find out all the answers when you join us at Newcastle Common on Saturday 30 March for performances that are truly out of this world!

All activities and performances are free and suitable for all audiences

The Earthlings behind Planet Dance are Anna-Louise McMinn, Pauline Mitchell and Caitlin Ross.

Film night in Newcastle Town

So, what’s this all about?

You’re probably in Newcastle Town Centre right now and have spoken to someone from our team, or perhaps you’ve found a QR code on a market stand.

We’re Appetite and we’ve worked with our friends at Flatpack Festival on something especially for you in the town. We’re showing some short, teen-friendly films you might not have seen before on the side of the Guildhall (just opposite McDonalds) for you to watch – a bit like an outdoor cinema.

Wacky and wonderful, the films combine a mix and match of animated films from a viral GIF having an existential crisis to a love struck stereo trying to win the heart of the girl next door.

You can see these on Friday 22 March from 6pm. While you’re watching them, we’re also going to ask you what you think and what you might like to see in the town centre. In the future, we’re hoping to do more with local young people like you, so this gives us an idea of what you like (or don’t!).

Sound good?

If you or anyone else you know has any questions you can email us at askus@appetite.org.uk or call us on 01782 381373
