Exaggerated not wanting to be separated from someone or something.

Gracie draws inspiration from the peddlar women of old who roamed the countryside with their haberdashery & tiny wares.  Peddling stories and objects as well as crossing borders they were also fortune tellers and bringers of news and the unknown.

Weaving a blend of close-up magic using haberdashery & the ancient oral tradition of storytelling, Gracie creates a rich fabric of magic and wonder using the manipulation of the objects and the stories metaphors to explore themes of attachment and desire.

Attachment re-visits the age-old magicians tradition of magic using thimbles, pins & ribbons, both reclaiming this feminine territory & creating New Magic by drawing on threads of theatre, stories, comedy, clown & song to illustrate each little set piece.

Hear the original version of Little Red Riding hood and watch her vanish before your very eyes… Charles Perraults’ version tells of wolves that are hairy on the inside, and warns of “This – the truth, sweetest tongue hath sharpest tooth…”

Discover the story of the Beauty who’s Father lost her to The Beast in a game of cards. In doing so try your hand at a traditional “Three Card Monty” but remember to keep your eyes on that red queen. Never as simple as its seems…

Travelling haberdasher Gracie Spoon carries a tray full of buttons, tricks and tales, weaving together a patchwork wonderland of magic and stories to delight, inspire and amaze.

Heath Robinson meets Beckett meets The Wombles meets the Road… A gently comic dystopia, set in a different time where everything has a new value and survival relies on sharp eyes, quick hands, and, above all, friendship. Join these traveller-gatherers on the road to nowhere: treading lightly, surviving quietly, and always, always moving onwards.

A story which unfolds inside and around the circular set as it rolls along at a gentle pace, with the audience walking alongside. Performed ‘fourth wall’ over a series of scenes, some rolling and some static, The Wheel House features comedy, theatrical acrobatics and breathtaking moments of risk, all housed within an exquisite, hand-built structure.

One of our most popular shows, The Wheel House has so far been seen by over 10,000 people. It has toured to Ireland, Holland, France, Belgium, Spain and Israel, and was selected as one of the UK shows in the incredible ‘Piccadilly Circus Circus’, part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Commissioned as a walkabout by Without Walls (2008) and funded for development into a full show (2011) by Applause.

The Knowledge Emporium by Slunglow

The Knowledge Emporiumby Slunglow presents findings from the Big Book of Everything We Know!

All week Slunglow have been swapping your stories and knowledge for sweets and good times at the Knowledge Emporium. Now comes the exciting bit!
Slunlow will take their findings from the Big Book of Everythhing We Know and on August 17th at the Bus Station in the City Centre (Hanley) they will create a show for you, the good people of Stoke, based entirely on the knowledge exchanged for sweets throughout the week.
