Wheel House
Heath Robinson meets Beckett meets The Wombles meets the Road… A gently comic dystopia, set in a different time where everything has a new value and survival relies on sharp eyes, quick hands, and, above all, friendship. Join these traveller-gatherers on the road to nowhere: treading lightly, surviving quietly, and always, always moving onwards.
A story which unfolds inside and around the circular set as it rolls along at a gentle pace, with the audience walking alongside. Performed ‘fourth wall’ over a series of scenes, some rolling and some static, The Wheel House features comedy, theatrical acrobatics and breathtaking moments of risk, all housed within an exquisite, hand-built structure.
A moving piece of visual theatre.
One of our most popular shows, The Wheel House has so far been seen by over 10,000 people. It has toured to Ireland, Holland, France, Belgium, Spain and Israel, and was selected as one of the UK shows in the incredible ‘Piccadilly Circus Circus’, part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
Commissioned as a walkabout by Without Walls (2008) and funded for development into a full show (2011) by Applause. Conceived, designed, devised and fabricated by the company. With Direction from Flick Ferdinando.
