Big Feast ’21: Roll Play

by Simple Cypher

Prepare to be amazed by the explosive tricks and artful dexterity of Simple Cypher’s newest outdoor production Roll Play. Three performers blur the boundaries between hip hop and circus, using intricate moves and virtuosic agility to give a captivating, cheeky and effortlessly cool performance.

A folding bench is the meeting point for three strangers from different walks of life; a park bench, a bus stop, a waiting room. What unfolds is a series of playful interactions challenging identity, status and societal roles. Simple Cypher fuse circus and hip hop to create a new, uplifting experience.

These three vivacious ladies- a blonde, a brunet and a red head are ready to snip, snap and slick you into style, and to have a good gossip too…but, WATCH OUT!! These ladies are armed with scissors and have been scorned!

Big Feast ’21: Distant Drums

by Whispered Tales

Distant Drums is a dynamic and thought provoking performance that tells the story of Reggae Sound System culture and its role in the fight for racial equality. A handcrafted bespoke sound system stands proudly on a statue plinth. As the speakers power up, digital screens appear within the stack and two performers transport the audience from Africa to the Caribbean until they finally arrive suitcase in hand on the shores of the UK.

Written by Madu Messenger, narrated by Macka B, choreographed by Donald Edwards with a distinctive Dub soundtrack by Vibronics, Distant Drums promises to be an exhilarating performance not to be missed.

Plus, don’t miss the Distant Drums live dance performance – Friday only!

Billy Read is a profoundly deaf street dancer, collaborating with Ariel Fung from Hang Kong and Ben Randall. Together they create amazing street dance, using tutting, mime and sign language.
