With this weeks gentle easing of lockdown restrictions and the official start of spring you can literally feel Newcastle yearning to welcome back its residents. Benches in Queens Park eagerly anticipating shoppers and workers enjoying a bite of lunch and a brief respite from their daily duties. Beer garden tables set expectantly awaiting pints and laughter.
In the next few weeks I’ll also be moving into the high street shopfront premises that along with Appetite I’ll be turning into a studio space for the final leg of my Newcastle Common residency. Really looking forward to painting from the heart of the community in Newcastle and being able to get immediate feedback from people as I document the town on canvas. We’ll be posting further details of the locations and opening times soon.
Here are my sketches made of Chris, Liam & Oliver in Tony Price Quality Butcher. Small 6 inch drawings which will be scaled up to 40 inch paintings.
