About my Window
Santa’s Pataphysical Haircut is displayed at Barnet Gentlemen’s Hairdressers – map number 4
“Science does not know it’s debt to imagination” – Ralph Waldo Emerson We are perhaps to only known creatures to display the ability to imagine (although some may argue this point). It is in our instinct to be inquisitive: we want to know how things function and why they do what they do. Therefore to understand science one must think. One my imagine. To imagine imaginary solutions in science is called Pataphysics- the science of imaginary solutions. “Santa’s Pataphysical Haircut” explores the concept of Pataphysics through the repurposing of Candy Canes as a supplement for Coal in a steam engine, which in-turn drives a moving wheel, filled with, Hair dryers, clippers and combs to give Santa a perfect stylish Haircut every time!
About Me
I am a multidisciplinary artist, working in Photography, Model Making and Set Design and love to combine all three into my work. Well studying in my third year Staffordshire University for my degree in Photography I found my passion for combining made sets and models, producing a project called “The Metaphysical Machines” for my Degree show. These images/sets explored the wonderful world of the “simple” made complex through imaginary solutions, to once mundane tasks, depicted in the form of colourful handmade “Heath Robinson” style Machines. This is a project I have continued to develop and create still within my practice today.
