Seasonal Specials: Visitor and COVID-Safe FAQs

appetite; seasonal specials WINTER

We want to keep everyone safe while attending our events during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have therefore put measures in place to keep audiences, general public, our Volunteers and staff safe. Please pay your part in reading our measures and abiding with them when you attend our events.

Please help us keep everyone safe by:

  • Hands. Use sanitiser and avoid touching installations.
  • Face. Use a face mask if you’re unable to keep 2m distance
  • Space. Keep your distance from those not in your household bubble. For outdoors this is 1m+ although we encourage you to keep 2m distance. Take notice to whether we’ve placed any markings on the floor or any queue management.
  • Track and Trace. Please sign in to NHS Track and Trace where you see the QR codes around the site.
  • If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, or have been in contact with anyone who has a confirmed or suspected case please do not attend and return home immediately. We will be making provision to allow you to see the work online. Please visit our social media sites. View the symptoms guidance here.

How will you ensure social distancing is maintained at the event?
We will have markings around the site and also signage to remind people of social distancing. We will mark out where people are to stand or queue, allowing the 2m distancing. We will have staff and Volunteers working at the event who will help to ensure that everyone remembers to social distance. We will have separate entrance and exist points to any fenced event areas.

Will you be operating a Track and Trace system?
We are encouraging all audiences to check in to the Track and Trace points at the CHORUS and Shimmer Tree installations. See the signs at the installations entrances.

Will I need to wear a face mask?
We are asking people to wear a face mask if they are unable to keep a 2m distance from people. Please respect social distancing. Not everyone is able to wear a face mask or shield for medical reasons and so we ask people to respect each other in maintaining social distancing.

How will you ensure a safe environment where COVID-19 cannot spread?
This event is running entirely outdoors, and so there are no confined spaces that numbers of people will be in.

  • We have carefully planned this event to run over several days, and with the exhibition, a month, in order to allow people plenty of time to see the installations. This will naturally spread people out over the course of each day, days and over the month. We are doing this so that people can come at their leisure and visitor numbers will be more spread out.  The installations themselves are spread out over the City Centre and again this will help to spread people out and avoid there being congested spaces.
  • We are using fenced off areas around Shimmer Tree and CHORUS so that we can control the numbers of people that enter those areas. We have carefully worked out how many people can safely be in the area, and walk around and enjoy the installations in their bubbles.
  • There will be clearly signed entrance and different exit points.
  • We will be cleaning contact points during the running of the event.
  • Hand sanitising stations will available at the installations
  • We are making it clear to everyone that attends what we need from them on our pre-event information and onsite signage – including observing social distancing and the current government messaging of Hands / Face / Space.  Anyone showing COVID-19 symptoms must not attend the event. In the event that they begin to feel unwell while attending, with COVID-19 related symptoms, we would ask them to leave immediately.
