The Depository of the Dull at Newcastle Common

The Depository of the Dull at Newcastle Common

Do you have an object you could share with us? Something with a story? Something related to Newcastle-under-Lyme?

The Depository of the Dull (DEPOD) is a moving, roving, living, gallery, museum and cabinet of curiosity. It moves from place to place collecting up stories and histories of people and spaces through objects. The Depository of the Dull and their curator, Shiv, is looking for everyday, extraordinary, extravagant objects with a great story to be part of an exhibition.

DEPOD will be working with the Brampton Museum & Art Gallery and Newcastle Common to collect as many objects and stories as possible from and about the people of Newcastle for online and in-person exhibitions. Afterwards, The Brampton Museum and Art Gallery would like to induct some objects into their forever collection at the museum – with your permission!

Want to share your items and stories with Shiv and The Depository of the Dull? Here’s how:

Complete the online form here and share photos of objects you can’t loan, photographs you would like to share or tell us a great story about Newcastle-under-Lyme in your own words!

Get in-touch with Shiv and the Depository of the Dull with details of your deposit at depodsub@gmail.com or get in-touch via their Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

(We accept donations, loans and images of your items however there is no obligation to donate or loan if you have an item you don’t wish to part ways with!)

What can I deposit into the Depository of the Dull?

Did you attend Keele University? Did you study at Newcastle College? Did you have an old diary, notebook or pencil case? Did you attend Carnival or Rag Week? Did you go to Maxim’s? Or Ritzy’s? Did you grow up in Newcastle-under-Lyme? Do your family and friends live here? We can accept anything of any size, any shape and any age. What we want most of all are objects with a great story that goes with them!

Bring us an object and tell us a story!

Here is some of the treasure we have received so far:
