Acclaimed sound artist Ray Lee is to premiere Congregation, a new interactive composition involving groups of residents from across the Potteries. Ray, Sonic Art Composer of the Year in 2012, has arranged introductory talks on January 21 for local residents who want to get involved.
In Congregation, Ray gives groups of people in locations across the city a musical silver sphere. This sphere will guide them across the city to a new location by emitting sounds – one sound for the correct direction and one for the wrong direction. As groups of audience members follow the sounds they will meet with other groups to form a Congregation in a central location.
To get the backstage story on this fascinating project come along! The talks are open to all and it would be great to see some of the lovely Appetite audience members joining us as this project develops.
