On Saturday 24 June, the modern circus returns to Newcastle-under-Lyme for the fourth year of outdoor circus extravaganza The Homecoming! Bringing some of the best in national & international contemporary circus talent to town, roll up with your family and friends for jaw-dropping juggling, cutting-edge Spanish circus, theatrical tales of the high seas and more.
Birthplace of the founder of the modern circus, Philip Astley, join us and celebrate Newcastle’s rich heritage in this fab family day out.

8 Songs by Gandini Juggling

Juggling like you;’ve never seen it… a series of choreographed juggling vignettes set to 8 classic rock and roll songs. A tribute to the mythical landscape of popular music. From Dylan’s stream of consciousness realms to the Velvet Underground’s troubling landscapes, from David Bowie’s soulful escapades to the rocking Rolling Stone’s anthemic joy de vivre.
Commissioned by Without Walls, Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival and Greenwich+Docklands International Festival.
Person Birds by Maison Foo

Inspired by the traditions of bird display shows fused with the madness of live science experiments… this hilarious new street theatre walkabout sees Maison Foo raise their bar of ridiculousness even higher with surreal and comical life size birds with a Foo twist, they are half bird, half human! Renowned for their mischievous nature, curious hobbies, silly walks and their ability to run a mock of ‘The Professor” their scientific trainer.
Do Not Disturb by Vaiven Circo

Do Not Disturb takes us back to the early 20th century, during a day’s work in a factory. Four characters are asked to build a machine, a 2.5 metre wheel, without any instructions and without even knowing what the machine looks like. They fit items together and then take them to pieces again, solving issues such as balance and counter balance. Their lack of guidance throws up all manner of funny, exciting and risky situations throughout the performance. A high energy, poetic show that combines dance, acrobatics and physical theatre with contemporary circus tricks.
Vaivén Circo is a Spanish Circus company constantly researching new forms by combining circus, dance and physical theatre with the idea of reaching high level of technical skills while telling a story

Van Buren’s Theatre of Magic

Andrew Van Buren & Allyson present a show for all of the family, which not only entertains but also answers many of the questions about magic – where did it begin, can somebody float in mid-air -before your very eyes, and will Van Buren escape from Houdini’s challenge? Come and see the Van Buren show to find out the answers.
With multiple appearances on television, in front of Royalty & tours around the world, this is a fun & baffling show not to be missed.
Van Buren’s Astley Circus School

Try it yourself as Andrew Van Buren teaches you the tricks of the trade in diabalo, plate spinning, Hula hoop and juggling. A workshop for all ages.
All at Sea by Acrojou

A storm in a tea up, the cloud that we all carry, a boat-sized piece of one man’s inner ocean…
All at Sea is a theatrical installation set in a boat, which rows gently through the tides of the world around us. In limbo between life and death, a lone boatman traverses a vast ocean of memories and past hopes, accompanied by his own personal storm: a fully functioning rain-cloud caught on the mast of his vessel.
All at Sea combines melancholic humour, striking design, and the visual poetry for which Acrojou is recognized in a moving and atmospheric row-about installation.
