How often is it that you get to meet a big, beautiful, glowing snail?
We’re so excited to be bringing the glorious Luma by Air Giants to Newcastle BID’s Christmas Lights Switch On #LightUpCastle on Sunday 26 November.
Luma is a nine-metre-long snail who loves an audience. Her presence as she looms above visitors is gentle, welcoming and otherworldly. Luma is a joyful and hopeful work which champions both nature and technology, and reimagines what robots can be for!
See Luma outside Caffe Nero on Ironmarket, Newcastle-under-Lyme from 1pm to 7.30pm.
Welcome back to Newcastle Common!
The doors of our NEW Newcastle Common are open! We have moved from our old space in York Place and will be opening our doors again in time for #LightUpCastle! Find us 2-3 Lancaster Buildings, ST5 1PG, in what used to be the Hays Travel shop opposite the Guildhall and Boots. Here’s what to expect from us on the day:
12 – 6.30pm: Welcome Back to Newcastle Common
Get stuck in to some creative activities and tell us what YOU would like to see happening at Newcastle Common next. Do you want more arts, exhibitions, family activities? Let us know! PLUS, our library will be be back open for browsing and lending.
12 – 2 pm & 3 – 6.30pm: Hype Badge making with Jenny Hunt
What do you want to hype!? Get the sharpies, pencils and fine liners at the ready to design and make a badge to celebrate anything you value: chips, your dog, your town, you, your amazing jumper, the pub, slushies, The Muppets Christmas Carol … As the lights get turned on let’s punch the air and hype anything or everything we love!
