International Day of Women and Girls in Science

International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Keele University and Appetite are joining forces to bring a whole hosting of exciting and mind-bending activities to Newcastle Common to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

Join us on Sunday 11 February from 11am to 3pm for a day unlike any science lesson you’ve experienced before!

Fill your Sunday afternoon with everything science from robotics and bones, telescopes and solar cells plus crafting activities to get your creative juices flowing! Including:

  • Meld, mould and model clay faces and heads with Sally Fitchard! Discover how modelling clay is used in science too
  • Things get messy as we mix paints and create our own colour tones with Ian Mood
  • Colours aren’t always what we think they are. They’re magic! Or is it science? Join Siobhan Mcaleer for a creative experiment where you can create your own masterpiece
  • Did you know that there’s such a thing as melting fabric? Imagine an outfit that would just disappear in the rain! Come along and see what magic can be made with a sewing machine, threads and water

Have we sparked your imagination? Then come along and see how exciting, fun and creative your journey in science can be! And it’s not just for girls, so we hope to see you ALL there.
