The Creative Communities Unit is holding a ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea and Cake morning’ to help people find out more about how they can get involved in Get Talking for Appetite
Lots of truly incredible things happened over the summer…
The Appetite programme launched its taster menu of arts events and we saw a beautiful circus, red people, punts, solar powered cinemas and the world tipping in front of our eyes.
Throughout all this the Creative Communities Unit encouraged a lot of people to ‘Get Talking’ to us about art: the art you want to see, what stops people going to art events and what you think quality art means. And of course what you thought of all the wonderful, inspiring and sometimes strange art taking place.
If you spent a bit of time ‘Getting Talking’ with someone in an orange T-Shirt about art, then chances are they were a member of the Get Talking Network, a group of wonderful volunteers who gave up their own time over the summer to learn how to use Get Talking to consult with communities and to attend all of Appetite’s Taster Menu of art to ask people what they thought. Many of these volunteers had never been involved in any kind of community consultation before.
We are now looking to expand this network to help with the next stages of the project. There are lots of ways of getting involved, from telling us your thoughts about art and what you would like to see, to becoming trained up as a community researcher, just like our Get Talking Network Volunteers. You can even choose whether you would like to get a qualification for the training you do… all for free.
