Save the date for AstleyFest 2021 which will be happening on Saturday 7 August 2021 in Newcastle-under-Lyme Town Centre and online, brought to you in partnership with Appetite!
With the uncertainty of this year the Philip Astley Project team decided to move the event from Lyme Valley Park into the town centre and also building on last years online extravaganza’s success, so this year both will be combined allowing you to experience the live events in town and then watch related films at home.
Roll up for a day of online events to be found on the Philip Astley Project social media sites and family friendly live entertainment in the town centre between 11am and 3pm.
With Astounding Acrobatics, Mystical Magic, Dynamic Dance, Pondering Poetry, Competitions, and more!
Online and in-person schedules for the day can be found below:

Philip Astley Exhibition at Newcastle Common
See the story of the father of modern circus, Philip Astley, brought to life in an exhibition produced by performer Andrew Van Buren. The month long exhibition features gems from Van Buren’s own collection, bringing together items about Astley and circus more generally as well as the original life-sized statue of Philip Astley sculpted by renowned artist Andy Edwards.
Learn about the circus and Philip Astley’s story in the exhibition starting on Saturday 7 August and taking place in the windows of Appetite’s Newcastle Common shop in Astley Walk, which sits on the corner of Lad Lane & Astley Walk.
