'Night Hawk Over Leek' by Erica Brook | "Underpinning all my work is the theme of 'connectiveness', sometimes, as with 'Night Hawk Over Leek', a suggestion of concern, but always, ultimately, an affirmation, much needed at this present time. Through the tragedy of these times, we are on the brink of seeing the good in relation to climate change, and a new way of living, which engages with our interdependence on each other and everything we engage with on our planet."

'Lesley' by Katie Jones | "For this piece I reconstructed lyrical genius into visual art. I chose my favourite Nigerian-British rapper as the focal point. As a musical artist, Dave raps about topical subjects sometimes causing controversy. This piece encapsulates his song ‘Lesley’ which is a tale of an abusive relationship. I chose to exhibit this piece because not only does it characterise my style as an artist, it represents my passion against injustices and is relevant to the current state of the world, including the consequences of COVID 19, the surge of calls to domestic abuse hotlines and also the ongoing protests for the ‘Black Lives Matter’ Movement. One of my favourite songs is called ‘Black’ which raises these issues in a way that highlights the age-old pandemic, racism."

'We're all doing unfamiliar things!' by Ian Naylor | "With the massive disruption of Covid-19 we started shopping for our 85 year old farmer neighbour who lives alone. After a month of Lock down he was plainly struggling to even walk to feed the cattle. Although obviously very active, the days of reaching his own feet were long gone, and his chiropractor was firmly closed. Having just been diagnosed with a dodgy hip myself I could understand his 'cutting toenail' problem so togged up to help him out. This crisis forcing us all into doing 'unusual' thing extends to the creation of this piece; drawn immediately afterwards from memory, rather than my usual more 'direct from life' mode."
