The Oasis Social Club Workshops: World Cafe and People Pottery

The Oasis Social Club Workshops: World Cafe and People Pottery

Get stuck into The Oasis Social Club!

The Oasis Social Club is a spectacular mobile space coming to Stoke on Trent in June. A pop up social club, it encourages a lively and sociable atmosphere, inviting local residents to take part in performance, programming and debate. It’s about having your say and having a laugh. The Oasis Social Club is OURS! Find out more here.

Do you want to be part of the steering group that forms the committee helping run the club when it arrives? Work with artist Rebecca Davis to put together a programme of debate, discussion and performance hosted by the club. You’ll even get to help her create the Stokie character that will host it!

All workshops will be free and taking place across May in community centres across the city. Don’t miss your chance to be part of a unique event in Stoke.

Workshop No.4: World Café and People and Pottery

Be part of the World Café with ‘practical philosopher’ Ayisha de Lanerolle and celebrate your local area through conversation. Followed by immortalising your portraits on crockery with a class led by Rebecca.

‘The World Café is a setting for reflecting on powerful questions that affect us all, in a way that can include lots of voices in the conversation and tap into the collective wisdom of the group.
On 16th May we are looking to start a conversation about our city. What do we want for Stoke? What does Stoke already have that’s great and needs shouting about? We are therefore looking for all kinds of people with different experiences to draw on. If you would like to come then we would very much like you to join us.  We will share ideas and start to build a picture of what OUR CITY means to us and of how we can build it into our lives.  All whilst sat at café tables drinking tea and eating oatcakes. In the afternoon Rebecca will be drawing your portraits in exchange for recording your stories – all guests will be invited to immortalise their portraits onto porcelain!’ Rebecca
