Appetite REMIX Artist Call Out

Over the past year, Appetite have been working with young people from the Stoke-on-Trent area on REMIX.

REMIX aims to reimagine city centre spaces as a digitally playable and playful environment. Through working with young people, artists, designers (games and services) and creative technologists, the three-year programme seeks to bring cutting-edge creative and digital experiences to Stoke-on-Trent city centre (Hanley), whilst also providing space for reﬂection and research.

To date, the project has featured a community consultation period followed by an intensive Sandpit Day, working with artists, students and members of the local Createch sector to imagine diverse and wonderful digital experiences within Hanley City Centre.

Appetite, working with Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID, are delivering the project thanks to funding from Stoke Creates.

Artists

We are now looking to connect with artists whose creative practice includes creating playable, digital or immersive projects. The artists we work with would be interested in applying this creative practice to city centre spaces, and in collaborating with young people. They could have a project already developed that they think would ﬁt this brief, one that could be adapted to this brief, or be looking to develop new work. We are interested in talking to people with work at any stage of development.

Next Steps

The next stages of the project are ﬂexible. There is budget to deliver projects and/or events in Stoke-on-Trent city centre over the coming 18 months, but that delivery will be dependent on artist responses, and how they connect to the consultation already collated.

Who are Appetite?

Appetite wants more people in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme to experience and be inspired by the arts. We’ve been working in Stoke since 2013 and Newcastle since 2019. We do lots of diﬀerent things and REMIX is one project we are working on. Find out more on our About Us page
