What on Earth?! at Keele Campus FAQ

Where is this event taking place? 

What on Earth?! is taking place across various locations on the beautiful Keele Campus! The campus is always open to the public and is a lovely place to spot some wildlife. 

The full address is Keele University, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5 5BG.

Do I need a ticket to attend this event? 

You do not need a ticket to take part in most of the activities across the two days on campus. However, some events are ticketed to allow us to manage capacity. Those events can be seen on our Eventbrite. To avoid disappointment it is best to book in advance. We may have free slots available for walk-ups on the day but cannot guarantee.

All tickets are free to book, with the option to Donate What You Decide.

I’ve never been to Keele Campus before, how do I get there by car? 

Keele is between Junctions 15 and 16 on the M6 motorway and is just west of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. The address is Keele University, Keele, Newcastle ST5 5BG. Satnav users please use the University postcode ST5 5BJ for main visitor car parks.

Where can I park for this event? 

There are various sites you can park on across campus, the locations for which you can find on the Keele Campus map. Parking is available at the Student’s Union car park (location 8), David Weatherall Building (location 44) and Plot 7 on the map.

Can I get the bus to Keele Campus? 

The number 25 First Potteries bus runs Hanley – Newcastle – Keele Village. Follow the link for up-to-date times and stops. Alternatively you can download a PDF timetable direct from the operator.

The number 85 D&G bus runs Nantwich – Crewe – Weston – Betley – Madely – Keele – Newcastle. Follow the link for up-to-date times and stops. Alternatively you can download a PDF timetable direct from the operator.

Are there toilets at this event? 

Yes! There are toilets are based at Keele University Students’ Union. This is located at number 8 on the Keele Campus map. There is an accessible toilet located on the ground floor with baby changing facilities. There is a ramp/slope at the main entrance to the building.

Where can I purchase refreshments? 

Snacks and refreshments can be purchased from Chapters Café, Greggs and the Coop located at point 8A on the Keele Campus map.

There are lots of lovely spaces for a picnic too! Feel free to bring your own and enjoy on campus. Please take any litter home with you.

Will there be photography and filming on the day?

Photography and filming will take place during this event. If you prefer not to be photographed, please speak to a member of our team onsite on the day.

Can I bring my dog to the event? 

Dogs are allowed on campus, however the university asks that you keep your pet on a lead for your safety. Only assistance dogs are permitted inside the campus buildings. Please clean up after your dog.

Earth Day happens every year on 22 April. It is a worldwide celebration that raises awareness of the importance of taking care of our environment. Earth Day also has a theme each year. This year’s theme is Planet vs. Plastics. If you want to learn more, you can visit the official Earth Day website
