We are delighted to announce the winner of the first ever Three Counties Audience Choice Award.
Appetite worked with our community decision makers, Supper Club to shortlist 20 pieces of art from the Three Counties Open Art Exhibition by Arts Keele which were put up for the public vote during August.
Over 400 local people cast a vote for their winner, and we are thrilled to announce that the winner is…
FIRST PLACE
Waiting for Frank by Joan Chatterton

As described by Joan, Waiting For Frank depicts “My Mother waiting for my Father after his shift at work in the 1940’s.”
And here Joan is holding the winning piece. Huge congratulations to Joan!

We are also thrilled to announce in second place…
SECOND PLACE
Portrait of Ela by David Gleeson

David said of the piece: “Ela is a care worker and a strong character. It was a fantastic challenge to depict her energy and colourful exuberance.”
Congratulations to David!
And finally in third place…
THIRD PLACE
One Smithfield by Julia Brown

Julia said, “My picture of One Smithfield in Hanley, Stoke on Trent is based on a photograph. I liked the dramatic perspective and I could use the most incredible colours! My use of fabric and threads links to the theme of pattern in the building itself. The sky is a combination of texture and pattern, both complementing and contrasting with the architecture.”
Congratulations Julia!
A huge well done to the winners and to the all the artists part of the Three Counties Open Art Exhibition 2020.
It’s been a huge pleasure for Appetite to be a partner on the project this year as part of the expansion of our programme into the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme.
If you haven’t already take a look around the virtual exhibition here.
