Getting to Keele

  • GAIA will be in Keele Chapel, within the Keele University Campus, ST5 5BG
  • A map of the campus is here. The Chapel is number 7 on the map. It is near to the Students Union
  • If you can we encourage you to use public transport to visit GAIA. Buses stop regularly on campus with the closest bus stop to the Chapel being the Students’ Union, next to the Chapel. You can find out more here
  • Car parks are available on Keele Campus. The closest is the Students Union Car Park. Find out more about car parks on campus here
  • Disabled parking is available on the Students’ Union car park next to the Chapel
  • During the week you will need to pay and display (cash accepted. Card payments available by using the Just Park app)
  • Parking on Saturdays and Sundays and after 5pm on weekdays, is free
  • Please be aware the car park gets very busy during working hours on weekdays. Please plan your trip accordingly.
  • When arriving on Campus look out for the directional signs to help you find your way to the Chapel

Access Information

  • GAIA is a visual artwork with an audio composition/soundtrack
  • Relaxed Viewing’ slots are available 10am-11am on each Saturday morning – please book a free viewing ticket to ensure entry. During Relaxed Viewings, we welcome adults and children who would like a more relaxed time to enjoy GAIA. Sound levels will be lowered. Visitors should feel comfortable to make noise and move around the space in this autism friendly environment.
  • Quiet Viewing’ slots are available most Saturdays 6pm-8pm: at these times we hope to create a quiet reflective experience for those visiting, with lower sound levels and lower visitor numbers. We’d ask those visiting at these times to keep noise to a minimum so everyone can enjoy a quieter experience.
  • GAIA takes place within Keele Chapel, which is a thriving inclusive community where all are welcome. Regular worship takes place and there is a Chaplaincy team who serve staff and students of all faiths and none. For further information about the Chapel click here.
  • Toilets, including accessible toilets and baby changing, are available inside the Chapel
  • There is also an accessible seating area available outside GAIA (near to the Chapel exit) if you need some time away, need to feed small children
  • Please feel free to breastfeed wherever you feel comfortable in the Chapel but if you would like a quiet space you are welcome to make use of the balcony or this seating area
  • There is seating available under GAIA, plus blankets and cushions if you would like to relax
  • There is also a seating area available outside GAIA if you need some time away
  • GAIA is wheelchair accessible with step free access (excluding the balcony)
  • There are a number shops near to the Chapel if you need refreshments
  • For further details and photographs of physical access in the Chapel click here
