Grain: Get Involved in Our People, Our Places Photography Project

OUR PEOPLE, OUR PLACES

And we need you…

We are looking for local people to get involved in a photography project about life in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme, telling the stories of people and places.

Our People, Our Places is a series of workshops taking place between October 2021 and June 2022, with those wanting to take part able to choose if they prefer logging onto a Zoom session or heading along to in person workshops. There will even be opportunities for photography walks and optional trips if that helps get your creative juices flowing.

Working with our partner GRAIN the project will end with a celebration that uses the images you have taken.

So why not join our first online workshop on Monday 4 October at 6pm.

About You:

  • No previous photography experience needed
  • Aged 18 and over

How To Sign Up:

Call Sammy our Community Participation Co-Ordinator on 07951357389 or send her an email at sammyb@appetitestoke.co.uk

Our previous photography workshops with GRAIN have already resulted in the Here, There, And Everywhere exhibition which is currently being shown in Albion Square, Hanley until Monday 4 October.

Our People, Our Places is a project in partnership with Appetite and GRAIN

Journeys Kidsgrove: Feedback On A Postcard

In a new project between Appetite, Canal and River Trust, Go Kidsgrove, and We Are Culla, a mural artwork is going to be created for Kidsgrove around the theme of journeys in collaboration with the local community.

Throughout September we will be delivering postcards to residents and schools within the vicinity of the canal to capture thoughts on what it’s like to live in Kidsgrove which will help to shape the mural designs. Residents will also have a say in the final artwork.

Postcards can be returned via the special post box which is currently situated outside of Kidsgrove Oatcakes on the strand by Friday 24 September.

The first postcards have been arriving on doormats around the town as well as with local schools. If you didn’t get one and live in Kidsgrove, we’d still love to hear your feedback with our digital survey below.
