The Big Feast ’19: Access Guidance

Appetite’s aim is to make The Big Feast accessible to everyone. And at Big Feast ‘19 we’re putting more in place to help do this.

Below you’ll find details of what we’ve done so far. We would love to hear your feedback after the event so we can keep improving.

  • There are icons on each event page of The Big Feast ’19 Brochure for guidance to the show plus Access & Useful Info on each event page.
  • Large print versions of the brochure are available: pick one up from New Vic Theatre; email askus@appetitestoke.co.uk and we’ll post one out or get one on the day from the HQ or a Steward.
  • A digital version of the brochure and map and schedule is available here.
  • All performances are wheelchair accessible and viewing areas will be reserved for wheelchair users when we’re expecting large numbers
  • A number of benches and backed seats will be available in performance areas
  • We’ve included a handy map in the brochure which also indicates an accessible route through the town and car parks which are all accessible
  • On the day Big Feast zone signs and directional signage will help you find your way
  • There’ll be Stewards throughout the festival including designated Access Stewards available for assistance
  • To help plan your visit you can find Suggested Routes at the Big Feast including a ‘Chilled Out Big Feast’ in the back of The Big Feast ’19 Brochure
  • We have the additional access provisions on the following shows:

BSL interpreted performances:

  • Bicycle Boy12:30pm & 2pm on Saturday
  • Seeing Me: 3:30pm on Saturday
  • Many Big Feast performances contain no dialogue and are suitable for D/deaf audiences. See each event page for details.

Relaxed / autism-friendly performances:

  • A version of Seeing Me aimed at blind and visually impaired audiences will take place on Friday 23 August at 1:30pm (not 3:30pm as previously advertised) at Potteries Museum & Art Gallery. Contact: hello@frontlinedance.co.uk or call 01782 208208 ext. 3644 to reserve a place.

Touch Tour

  • As some of our shows contain loud noises a Quiet Zone will be available in City Central Library: Friday: 10am-4:30pm & Saturday: 10:30am-1:30pm
  • Ear protectors will be available from the HQ or by asking a Steward too
  • There will be First Aiders and Security at the festival so you’ll be in plenty of safe hands. If you require their assistance please speak to a Steward.
